An Elder Reads CoC !!
by TTATTelder ini have recently joined the site.
i was just appointed an elder this summer.
i started discovering the ttatt (the truth about the truth) last year after putting a few things together myself concerning the leadership and then doing some research online.. i really enjoyed jwfacts.com, jwsurvey, and others.

Welcome TTATTElder!
I guess we believe in the rapture now!
I said this to friends and they just laughed, and basically admitted, yup, it's true! I must hang with closet apostates.
Also interesting how you "got made" as your doubts surfaced. This happened to me, too, in and around 2000. I was "reaching out" to be an elder and doing research on my own when I discovered Jerusalem fell to Babylon in 587. I also read some comparative mythology stuff which showed that elements of the OT were predated by Sumerian myths. . . Then 911 happened, I was appointed, and all those thoughts got pushed down. .. . .

Missionaries to vacate all missionary homes
by seenitall inlatest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.
no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.
must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.

No bibles at any kingdomhalls, strong rumors the annual meeting is regarding the bible...
by EndofMysteries infrom relatives and contacts in 2 states, there have been no bibles available for a couple months.
one person mentioned to me as well about supposed quotes in the magazines from other bibles.
rumors are that they will announce a new bible, or possibly tell everyone to buy a bible from another place that they approve of.

The "new" bible will not be called the "New World" translation.

Did you ever volunteer at or visit Bethel? What were your impressions when you were in the WBTS vs. now (looking back)?
by Poindexter Lionel Humperdique indid you ever volunteer/visit bethel back when you were in the borg?
at the time, it opended my eyes as i saw a lot of red flags.
for instance, volunteers were kept so busy without reasonable accomodations that everyone became in a robotic-zombie state of compliance with an unreasonably strict fast pased schedule.

MOOMANCHU - the Bethelites are being assimilated into the existing congs in and around USNY. Some congregations are even "splitting" due to the huge influx. Some will be driving 1hr+ one-way to go to meetings.

WATCHTOWER IN A PANIC!
by JW GoneBad injws are in need of more kingdom halls in many major u.s. cities.
at this years agm where it is expected that most of the faithful will be able to listen to the meeting (being tied in by video), dont be surprised if the wts 8 gb members take part in a symposium delivering some long winded appeal, petition, plea, proposal, proposition, solicitation or otherwise hit-on the masses for $$$ in order to lighten the burden and overuse that many kingdom halls are experiencing.
an acquaintance from the west coast mentioned to me that in late august thru early september of this year that a number of pow-wows involving close to 5,000 elders from numerous areas (riverside, los angeles, ventura and orange counties) took place to drum up financial support from the 800+ (not sure) congregations in those areas.

Discussion w/ Wife: I Welcome Your Suggestions
by breakfast of champions inso these last few wts have definitely eroded my wife's faith in the org.
she is definitely seeing the bs, and i even overheard her talking openly about it to a family member.
good for her!.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I will take everyone's input and try to synthesize a response for my wife to consider.
I know the reason she brought up these particular subjects is because she's experiencing major cognitive dissonance right now.
I realize I am literally watching her "cult self" scramble for ANY reason why she should still consider this thing to be "the truth."
When I hear my REAL wife talk, it's almost shocking! We had another talk in the car yesterday, and her "true self" was asking some good questions, and reasoning like a rational human being. If I can just get THAT person to surface entirely. . . .
For now, I think I'm going to let these two issues sit on the back burner. I've got all of the great links and info posted here, so I'll be more prepared next time.
I'm hoping (actually I'm pretty sure!) the upcoming annual meeting will really shake my wife. I know the kind of wacky, controlling, cult rhetoric these bozos use at these things, and my wife is becoming more and more sensitive to it.
Thanks again,
BOC

So these last few WTs have definitely eroded my wife's faith in the Org. She is definitely seeing the BS, and I even overheard her talking openly about it to a family member. Good for her!
Here is what she's stuck on though: Jehovah's Witnesses don't go to war. And who else is doing the preaching work like Jehovahs Witnesses?
She feels these things make JWs unique. All I said is that just because some group is unique, it doesn't mean they are the only true religion on earth.
I left it at that, not wanting to push too hard without thinking about it a little more.
So what do you guys think? How would you reason with someone on those points?
I've already got my own ideas, but want to know what you think.
